FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Why Application-Specific Lubricants Effect Product PerformanceCleveland, OH - March 15, 2004
Product-Specific Lubricants Can Extend Life of Nook Linear Motion Systems
Nook Industries, a leading manufacturer of linear motion control systems and components, explains the importance of using its manufacturer recommended application-specific lubricants to extend its products operational life.
Lubricants facilitate the installation and performance of product and provide exceptional wear protection, reduce friction, and inhibit corrosion. By recommending its lubricant, Nook Industries can ensure the lubricant minimum characteristics have been tested and provide adequate lubrication in the application. The selection of lubricant is part of the engineering evaluation/design and should not be an afterthought. Lubrication is an essential part of the tribological system, thus its selection is critical. Harm to the products function can come from the lack of lubricant as well as the selection of an unsuitable lubricant.
Typically it is best to lubricate after product is installed to promote easier handling and to prevent contaminates being attracted to the presence of lubrication. Some applications use oil as their lubrication medium, thus product is shipped dry, coated with a corrosion prevention preservative. Product can be shipped with application specified lubrication.
"The formulation of Nook lubricants is based upon our breadth of experience and requirements of specific applications developed over the years." says Ron Domeck, Nook Industries' President. "By recommending lubricants, we increase our value to our customer by providing a more complete solution/recommendation and limit the need for multiple contacts to reach a conclusion."
Nook lubricants include: E-900 available in spray and liquid for ball screw assemblies, ball bearing splines, and other rolling element products; E-100 spray and PAG-1 grease for acme screw assemblies; LBL-1 liquid for linear bearings.
