CNC MILLING & TURNING – 2nd and 3rd Shift

1 –2 years experience in a manufacturing environment. 3 – 5 years setup, operation and program editing experience necessary. High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent required. Vocation or trade school graduate helpful.

Skills Required for Position

  • Mechanically inclined with strong math skills.
  • Ability to read basic measuring devices, including micrometers and calipers.
  • Working knowledge of surface footage and feed rates.
  • Ability to interpret and understand verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to interact with multiple personalities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate machine tool.
  • Inspect product to print, looking for any flaws and defect of material, including deburring if necessary.
  • Adhere to all ISO 9001 regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

SWISS / Multi-Task Operator

Skills Required for Position

  • Working knowledge of basic and level one measuring equipment. (Mics, Calipers, basic lay-outs with height stand and indicators)
  • Able to work from blueprints and basic GD&T knowledge (Recognize diameters, lengths, locations and basic dimensions)
  • Locate, recognize and assemble tools from detailed set-up sheets (Word document with tool description, insert types and grades.)
  • Basic mechanical aptitude (Must be able to use hand tools: Allen keys; Torx bits; hammers; screwdrivers.)
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite- Word and file recognition)
  • Basic machine maintenance. (Checking and filling levels, and department cleanliness
  • Maintain proper documentation (1st article, in-process and any other dept work sheets)
  • Responsible for all offsetting

Multi-Tasking Set-up Operator
All of above, plus:

  • Knowledge of basic cutting parameters (sfm, ipm, ipt, rpm)
  • Ability to read through program and set-up sheets to determine tool location
  • Ability to recognize speeds and feeds in programs and edit accordingly
  • Working knowledge of general materials as well as specials
  • Ability to down load program and produce part complete to printed dimensions

Multi-Tasking Program Set-up Operator
All of the above, plus:

  • Ability to create working machine program from scratch
  • Do machine alignments as well as recognize other potential problems
  • Use Gibbscam or Partmaker software to create working programs
  • Help all other department employees with troubleshooting and solutions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organization skills
